PE and Sport Premium

In 2018-2019 the government continues to make payments to schools under the Sports Premium Grant Allocation. This equates to £16,000 and then a further payment of £10 per pupil. .

It is stipulated that schools must use the funding to make additional and sustainable improvements to the quality of PE and sport they offer.

This means that the premium should be used to:

  • develop or add to the PE and sport activities that your school already offers

  • make improvements now that will benefit pupils joining the school in future years

This year we decided to appoint a P.E lead to organise and run activities in order to develop and add to the range of sporting activities that we already offer. These small group taster sessions afford children the opportunity to experience sports that would otherwise not be offered as part of our curriculum entitlement.

We have also maintained our commitment to developing swimming as a key life skill by using the Sport's Premium to expand our swimming offering beyond Year 4 so that all children in school have opportunity to develop their swimming skills each year.

Please read the information below which gives further details of our PE and Sport Premium Grant and how we have decided to allocate the funding this year.

The documents below set out the proposed use of our Sports Fund Allocation and how it was used historically.

Key Swimming Information

Meeting national curriculum requirements for swimming and water safety

Please complete all of the below*:

What percentage of your current Year 6 cohort swim competently, confidently and proficiently over a distance of at least 25 metres?

What percentage of your current Year 6 cohort use a range of strokes effectively [for example, front crawl, backstroke and breaststroke]?

What percentage of your current Year 6 cohort perform safe self-rescue in different water-based situations?

Schools can choose to use the Primary PE and Sport Premium to provide additional provision for swimming but this must be for activity over and above the national curriculum requirements. Have you used it in this way?
