Good evening to all our Parents and families,
First of all, on behalf of all the children and staff at Pickering Community Junior School can I thank you all for turning out on such a cold evening and welcome you all to our Christmas Carol Concert and Wish you all a very Merry Christmas.
This evening is an opportunity to build on or start to build up your Christmas Glow (No Miss Turner- that’s not your fake Christmas tan- it’s that lovely Christmas feeling that you feel inside –here near your heart at this special time of year).
Tonight is a chance to spend quality time together as a school and as a community and have a really good sing along. Our hope is that you all join in with all of the performances apart from those songs by the singing squad - where we want you to sit back relax and enjoy the beautiful music in such a wonderful surrounding.
The theme for our performances this year is to care – which also happens to be our school motto. At this special time of year it is very important to remember those less fortunate than ourselves, be that a person sleeping rough in a cold alleyway, someone feeling alone and sad or the local wildlife.
As you leave the church at the end of the evening remember the messages you’d heard tonight from the children and try and spread a little Christmas happiness beyond your own home and circle of friends. Try and think and care for those who may not be part of your families inner circle, they may even be a total stranger.
Thank you to Father Pritchett and to all of the wardens and other members of the church team who have made this evening possible and made us feel so welcome.
Finally can I say a big thank you to all of the staff at Pickering Junior School for their endless dedication and hard work and also on a personal note the support they have given me in my role as Acting Headteacher of such an amazing School!
Merry Christmas to you all – let the evening begin.
