Chance to Shine Cricket

We have been lucky enough to have had Owen from 'Chance to Shine Cricket' back in to lead our cricket sessions. The weather hasn't always been on our side but Owen has been able to adapt activities for in the hall. This has really enhanced staff CPD but also in developing and supporting links to local clubs and teams. The children absolutely love the sessions, where they are all engaged, active and take on various roles, they particularly enjoy their teacher getting involved too!

Reindeer Dash

This week the children got into the Christmas spirit and joined forces with York Mix radio to complete a Reindeer Dash in order to raise money for St Leonards' Hospice. The children recorded their version of '.... sleeps till Christmas' before completing 5 laps of the playground, wearing their Reindeer antlers chasing an extra special guest....SANTA!! It was wonderful to see the whole school working together towards a shared goal.

We are pleased to share that we raised £252.00 in total!

In this unit, the children were focusing on jumps, balances and rolls. They worked individually and with partners to create a range of balances, they practised different jumps one footed or two footed and whether it was for performance or distance before experimenting with rolls that would support travelling. At the end, the children worked in small groups to create their own small performance which demonstrated all taught features. The children demonstrated technique, control, balance and most of all creativity.

Inter-competitions

We have four school houses at PCJS: Gresley, Peraduras, Keepers and Moors who regularly compete against one another through inter-house competitions at the end of each unit in their PE lessons in order to gain house points for their team.

Recently, we have increased the house competitions through assigning all members of staff into a house!
