The National Curriculum requires all children in Key Stage 2 to learn a language. French is our focus language. We believe that learning a foreign language provides a valuable educational, social and cultural experience which will lay the foundation for future language learning. French is an important aspect of our curriculum and makes a valuable contribution to the spiritual, moral, social and cultural of our pupils and underpins our school values. French is delivered through the North Yorkshire units for learning which build in coverage of and progression in both skills and knowledge. Each unit provides pupils with opportunities to practise their spoken French, as well as activities to read and write. Sessions are fun and interactive with electronic and physical resources to support learning.
