Trips and Visits

Learning Outside the Classroom is really important to us at PCJS  as we believe that it  makes learning more enjoyable, engaging and memorable.  It also supports our school values and has a positive impact on behaviour, attendance and enthusiasm.  LOtC includes a wide range of different types of activities such as outdoor play, lessons using the school grounds, environmental education, adventurous activities, role play to explore ideas, visitors to school, and trips away from school. As well as our fantastic residential visits we also aim to include a trip away from school or an expert visitor to school every term to bring our theme for that term alive.  You will find lots more information and pictures on the class pages, school newsletters as well as on our Facebook page but here are a few examples of some of our past exciting trips and brilliant visiting experts.

Danby Moors Visitor Centre River Fieldwork Trip.

As part of our Misty Mountains, Winding River Theme in year 3 and 4  we go on an expertly led day trip to the beautiful North York Moors to learn about the river field work and the different stages of a river.

Power Down Pete

Power Down Pete comes to visit us in school during our Misty Mountains, Winding River Theme to teach us about the importance of water and we always have lots of fun and get a bit wet too.

Year 5 visit Yorvik Viking Centre and Dig

As part of the Invasion theme in year 5, the children spend a day visiting the Yorvik Viking Centre and Dig in York.  The sights sounds and smells in the Yorvik Viking Centre are something to remember and the hands on excavation activity at Dig brings archaeology alive.
